Venezuela and Latin America

The Little Venice Institute LLC, U.S. Export Management Company

Venezuela is the primary market. The company also connects U.S. agricultural producers with mid-to-large importers, distributors, and processors elsewhere in Latin America.

September 10, 2026 release

On September 10, 2026, USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service published “USDA Announces Expanded Suite of Trade, Development and Food Security Opportunities for Venezuela”. This page cites that release as a public source. The Little Venice Institute LLC is not affiliated with USDA and is not a partner of the Foreign Agricultural Service.

The release states that FAS is promoting sales of U.S. farm products to Venezuelan importers through the GSM-102 Export Credit Guarantee Program. It also states that recent enhancements under the Food and Agriculture Resilience Mission Initiative allow any approved foreign bank to back Venezuelan transactions. For this company, a transaction proceeds only through a foreign bank on the CCC-approved foreign bank list.

The release describes these measures as Venezuela recovers from recent earthquakes. The Little Venice Institute LLC is a U.S. export management company applying for GSM-102 exporter qualification. The application is pending. Qualification is a decision of the Commodity Credit Corporation. If the company is qualified, it would structure sales of food staples — wheat, corn, rice, vegetable oils, frozen poultry, and dairy — between U.S. suppliers and Venezuelan importers. It does not manufacture and it does not hold inventory.

Where GSM-102 is used, the destination must be one the Commodity Credit Corporation has announced, and the buyer’s bank must be on the CCC-approved foreign bank list.

A shipment from a U.S. Gulf or Florida port can have a shorter transit to Venezuela than a shipment from Asia. A shorter transit can reduce freight time and landed cost. The difference depends on the ports, the carrier, and the contract.
